Canteen Meal experience
Case Study
An exploratory design project focused on well-being at ESAD.CR was developed using design research methodologies. The project concentrated on the dining experience in the ESAD.CR canteen. Since food plays a crucial role in student life, its quality can directly affect the academic performance, health, and overall well-being of students, teachers, and other members of the community who use the school cafeteria.

Data Collection through Surveys
& Contextual Interviews
Students reported concerns about the poor quality of food, limited flavor and frustrations with the ticketing process. The food advertised on the menu often did not match what was actually served, long queues for both loading money onto cards and purchasing food tickets and general dissatisfaction with the food quality.

Journey Map

Affinity Mapping
The students created an Affinity Map to identify patterns in student feedback - taste of food, long waiting times for ticket purchase and food hygiene.

HMW Workshop
How might we improve the taste of food without interfering with the kitchen operations?

How might we reduce queue times for loading devices and purchasing tickets?

How might we prevent hygiene issues?

Proposed Solution
The workshop participants suggested a Digital Kiosk solution, integrating several improvements: upload money to devices faster and with fewer queues, check real-time updates on what food is available, purchase additional seasonings to improve the taste of food and a feedback/suggestion box to report issues or improvements.
